iPhone: Apple to provide brand new applications on a regular basis

Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's CFO made some announcements during the financial result presentation for 1Q 2007.

He said Apple will release new applications for the iPhone -- " entirely new application " -- which will be made available through the automatic software update of the system.

In addition, he confirmed that Apple was still inline for Europe iPhone debuts during 3Q 2007 and in 2008 for Asia.

In the US, iPhones are likely to be sold through Apple Online Store, Cingular.com, Apple Store as well as through the Cingular/AT&T shops and their partners such as Best Buy.

On his side, Tim Cook, Apple's COO, did not give any hints about the inital sales volume, stating that it was very difficult to size demand before the first iPhones would be actually shipped during the first days.
